Ozone R1 in a buggy...

I had a go with the R1 today, 11m, I would have preferred to start on the 6 or 8m and build up - but what a kite! And what potential, I got nowhere near unleashing it as I felt overpowered and wasn't confident enough to really let it rip.

But Andy from http://www.max-vmgracing.com/ is getting an 8 at the end of the week and may get a 6 as well - so hopefully I will get to play some more...

I arrived at Lake Walyungup before sun-rise...

Need for speed - measurer...

A while back I had my Garmin eTrex H stolen out of my car so I have been unable to accurately measure my speed.

The other day I rememberd that we still had a Magellan Explorist GC  from when we used to go geocaching so this is now strapped to the buggy...

KAP-tured it...

I had my first attempt at kite aerial photography, I went to Lake Walyungup first and then headed down to the beach...

Video - The Way South...

An awesome video from Rob Lukin and the Ikon kite team, if this doesn't inspire you to get out and buggy then you must be dead!

I think I (well my Ozone Flow) makes a cameo at the very end!

Any tips...

On how to wind 200m of line onto the winder?

My KAP kite, Ulrafoil 15, line, winder and GoPro rig arrived today...

I've already learnt - keep the cat out of the way!

A bit of tidying up...

What do these two things have in common?

They are both essential for cleaning off the old grip tape on the foot pegs of the buggy, which had been patched a couple of times and needed replacing.

Look, Shiny...

I still had some grip tape in a box in the garage, just cut some short lengths...

As good as new ready to go and play...

Pansh A15 prototype...

This is the latest Pansh closed cell depower kite prototype. It is a new generation of ultra high performance kite...

I wonder how it would go in a buggy?

Wind confusion...

After being very confuddled with the wind forecast on Willy Weather yesterday, unexpectedly the trees started to move so I headed to Lake Walyungup.

I started with the 10m Ozone Manta...

Until it became over-powered then switched to the 6m Ozone Access...

And had just over an hour of buggying...

It definitely has its advantages living so close to such a great buggying location.

Confuddled...

I was all set to go buggying this morning, the ute is loaded, my wife even made me a mocha to take with me. Looking out of the window there is not a breath of wind.

Willy Weather online forecast about 15 knots this morning...

The Willy Weather app forecasts maybe 10 knots dropping to bugger all...

My eyes and the trees tell me the app is right, see why I'm confuddled? Looks like I'm going to have to do the weeding!

Strapped...

Inspired by +John Holgate's video about how to KAP, I have made myself a couple of webbing straps ready for when my kite, line, winder and GoPro rig arrive. One to act as a tether/anchor point and the other to pull the kite down to attach the GoPro rig...

Seat belt webbing left over from making my hotwire and two snap hooks (rated at 160kgs, $4.40 each from my local hardware store) -

All fired up and ready to go -

Two straps; the long one for pulling the kite down - can either be looped around my waist or a foot through the bottom loop so I can be hands free, the short is the tether/anchor point -

Snap hooks rated at 350lbs (160 kgs)

I'm thinking I could use a butterfly knot to secure the kite line to the snap-hook on the tether -
