Kite Tart!

I have decided that I am officially a kite tart!

I spend my days lusting after different bits of rip-stop nylon, Ozone, Peter Lynn, HQ, Flexifoil it doesn't matter what brand if it flies and can pull me a long then I want it! After flying the HQ Toxic, guess what I wanted? Another HQ Toxic - but bigger!

Yesterday I came to a decision I need to be monogamous (well at least to one brand) and despite costing more and despite my wife not approving another purchase (yet) I think when I do get a 6.5m it is going to be another Method...

My 4m Method is awesome, it ticks all the boxes for me and though the Toxic is a great kite I think I will always be wishing (and lusting) for another Method.

Skid Lid..

...Bone dome? Whatever you want to call it, I am looking at getting a new helmet (another thing to add to the wish list!). Why?

My goal with the vapor is to start pushing my speed, I'm not after any world records (I am still riding a Peter Lynn Comp xr+) but want to go faster and with that comes increased risk of an OBE and I need to protect my rugged good looks!

At the moment I am using a 661 Dirtlid, this is a great helmet, comfortable, cool (as in not to hot) and does the job - it did do the job OBE. Time to get out there and try some for size...

What kite...?

... Did Brian Holgate use to break the kite buggy speed record?

A Peter Lynn Vapor 2.7m

What kite...   have I just bought?

A Peter Lynn Vapor 2.7m

A Peter Lynn Vapor 2.7m!!!

My first step into the world of race-kites and seriously pushing my limits, probably will look at selling my 3m Core and getting a 2nd race-kite around the 3.3m size - but don't tell my wife!

Sold

I have sold my 8.5m Blade III, it will be heading to Cairns and will hopefully get some use - I'm still thinking I may get a 2.7 or 3.5m vapor!

Quality Time…

I spent some quality time the other day with my kites - unpacking, checking them over and then repacking them away. So that next time the wind is good I am ready to go with out any knots or tangles.

The need for this came about when I last tried to fly the Blade, and I unpacked it to find the lines in a complete twist. I had quickly packed it away the last time I flew it, ahead of a rain-storm and obviously hadn’t done a very good job – then trying to sort it out on the salt lake with a couple of beefy Rangers breathing down my neck was impossible!

All my kites are in excellent condition and after a couple of hints (thank-you Bones), including one from the team at Peter Lynn kites I found the Velcro to hold the bridles on my Core – hidden inside the openings to the cells!
Velcro tab

Now all I need is the go-ahead from the DEC, some wind and we are ready to go…

Maybe a couple of vapors and a Sysmic S2, wouldn’t go amiss – I’m not sure if my wife reads my blog but - hint, hint!

Demo Kites

I am trying to get my hands on a couple of demo kites from extreme kites to fly and review. This is a fantastic service that they offer for $10 (+ a $50 deposit).

Peter Lynn Vapor

I am hoping to get my hands on a 4.5m Peter Lynn Vapor and a 4.2m HQ Prodigy - a couple of race kites! I think it would be great to fly these side by side and compare them. It would also be great to get my hands on something that is going to be challenging to fly and will push my limits and hopefully my PB.

HQ Prodigy
I'm still waiting to here from extreme kites - but as soon as I get my sticky mits on them you will know - Mmmm, race-kites!
